Tessa Neuvonen

Tutor & Freshers' Coordinator

Hello freshers and congratulations on your study place!

My name is Tessa and I'm turning 20 this autumn. This year I'm serving as the freshers' coordinator, and on the board as communications coordinator. I was admitted in 2025 via certificate-based admission and am thus starting my second year of studies this autumn.

I moved to Joensuu from the small village of Simpele, where I've lived my entire life. At the start of my studies I was really nervous, but I met lots of wonderful people and gained lovely memories. The whole fresher year flew by far too quickly and the freshers' weeks that kicked it off were absolute tops! So I hope we can make them just as memorable for you!

Feel free to come chat and ask about anything that comes to mind. I know how new and exciting starting studies can be, and that's why all of us tutors are here to help! <3See you in the autumn!

Nähdään syksyllä!

Väinö Jussila

Tutor and contact person for distance students

Moi!

My name is Vin, and I am one of your tutors this year. I also serve as the primary tutor and contact person for distance students. I started my studies last autumn after being admitted via entrance examination. I moved to Joensuu from Tampere, so I know well what it feels like to start studies in a completely new city where you don't know anyone yet.

From my fresher year, what stood out most in my mind were especially the first weeks and events, during which I got to know other students. The new study place and city began to feel much more familiar as soon as new friends were found around me.

Warm congratulations on your study place and welcome to the Legio crowd. See you in the autumn!

Antti Moilanen

Tutor

Yeah, hello there, my name is Antti, I'm 22 years old and originally from Porvoo. I was originally admitted to study via certificate-based admission in 2024, but military service postponed the start of my studies by a year. So now my first study year is behind me and the second is about to begin! My major is administrative law.

Freshers' weeks were overall an absolutely wonderful experience and I can't wait to see you in the autumn!!

Eemil Meriläinen

Tutor

Hello freshers!

Congratulations on your study place! I'm Eemil and one of your upcoming tutors. I'm 20 years old. Originally I come from Kuopio and currently reside in Joensuu. I was admitted via certificate-based admission right after upper secondary school and am now starting my second year of studies. My major is administrative law. In my spare time I like to do sports, spend time with friends, and relax on the sofa watching a good series.

I know you're all feeling nervous, so remember that you can come talk with me about any topic at any time. We tutors are here for you! Welcome to Joensuu and to being part of Legio!

Congratulations once more on your study place!

Aino Niiranen

Tutor

Moi fuksit!

My name is Aino and I come from Kuopio. This year I'm serving as a tutor for the second time, because last year was so fun and I want to help you get into student life just like I was helped in my time. See you in the autumn!

Onnittelut kaikille uudesta opiskelupaikasta. Nähdään syksyllä!

Aaro Laiho

Tutor

Helloooo! I'm Aaro, a 22-year-old from Kouvola, currently living in Joensuu and studying public law in my second year. My major is financial law, and as a minor I read business law. I got admitted via certificate-based admission straight from upper secondary school after a gap year.

I spend my spare time in the company of friends and loved ones, doing something from my numerous varied hobbies or just watching movies and series. Fresher year was unforgettable for me and I hope I can give a similar experience to you future freshers! In Legio and Joensuu there is a warm and relaxed community spirit, and it's easy to feel at home here.

Welcome aboard! Feel free to reach out with a low threshold, no matter how small the matter! See you in the autumn!
